Privacy Policy

This document describes how Ing. Mgr. Jiří Habersberger processes personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR) and Czech Act No. 110/2019 Coll., on the Processing of Personal Data.

2. Categories of Personal Data Processed

In the course of providing court interpreting and translation services and operating this website, I process the following categories of personal data:

  • Identification data — first name, surname, academic titles, date of birth, and, where applicable, the birth number as stated in the document being translated.
  • Contact details — address, phone number, e‑mail address.
  • Billing data — company ID, VAT ID, bank account number.
  • Data contained in translated or interpreted documents — the nature depends on the specific assignment; this may include special categories of personal data (e.g. health data, criminal-record data) to the extent necessary to fulfil the assignment.
  • Technical website data — IP address, browser type, browsing information (see section 6 below).

3. Purposes and Legal Basis

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — preparation of translations, provision of interpreting services, communication with the client, invoicing.
  • Compliance with a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) — keeping the court interpreter’s register of acts under Act No. 354/2019 Coll., archiving of tax and accounting records.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — enforcement of claims, protection against misuse, website security.

4. Data Retention Periods

  • Court interpreter’s log and register of acts — 10 years from the date of the act (§ 25 of Act No. 354/2019 Coll.).
  • Tax and accounting documents — 10 years from the end of the relevant accounting period (Czech VAT Act, Accounting Act).
  • Contracts and orders — for the duration of the contractual relationship and the subsequent statutory limitation period.
  • Data from contact form / e‑mail enquiries without a follow-up engagement — up to 6 months.

5. Data Recipients

Personal data is shared only to the extent necessary to fulfil the purpose of processing and legal obligations, in particular with:

  • courts, public prosecution offices, the Police of the Czech Republic and other public authorities for which the translation or interpreting is provided;
  • the client who placed the order;
  • my accountant and tax advisor;
  • the hosting provider of this website.

Personal data is not transferred to third countries outside the EU/EEA.

6. Cookies and Analytics

This website does not use any cookies or third-party analytics or marketing tools. No cookies are stored in your browser during your visit and your behaviour on the site is not tracked.

All content (text, fonts, images, scripts) is served directly from this website; no external CDN services, social plugins or third-party embeds are used. The hosting provider’s web server records standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, User‑Agent header) solely for operational and security purposes, see section 2 above.

7. Your Rights

In relation to the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access to your personal data and information about its processing.
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure (right to be forgotten), where no statutory ground for processing applies.
  • Right to restriction of processing.
  • Right to data portability for data you have provided on the basis of a contract or consent.
  • Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis for processing.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (Office for Personal Data Protection, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, www.uoou.cz).

8. How to Exercise Your Rights

You may submit a request relating to any of the rights listed above in writing to the address above or by e‑mail at jiri@habersberger.cz. I will respond without undue delay, no later than one month from receipt of your request.

9. Confidentiality

As a court interpreter I am bound by a statutory duty of confidentiality pursuant to § 21 of Czech Act No. 354/2019 Coll., on Court Interpreters and Court Translators, in relation to all activities I perform. This duty may be lifted only by the person in whose interest it is held or by statute.

10. Effective Date

This Privacy Policy is effective as of 1 May 2026 and may be updated from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
